If you didn’t know, LAPAN (Lembaga Penerbangan dan Antariksa Nasional) said that on august 6th 2016, you could see the night sky so clear and full of stars, starts from 8 pm until 9 pm.
I was told by my mother. So we remembered it and when it was already ten minutes to 8 pm, we went outside. And yess the stars were appearing! There were three stars that were brighter than the others and they were located near to each other, like a triangle shape.
I’ve always wanted to lie down gazing at the night sky with stars. This thought often comes to my mind sometimes. So when I saw the sky I said to my mom and sister, “let’s lie down and watch the stars!”
But my sister was busy doing her homework, so I lay down on the terrace only with my mom. The sky was actually not very clear and there were not that many stars like in tumblr photos. However you could still see more stars than any other days, even still not much. We watched the stars and talked about this and that. Sometimes silence enveloped us for a second as we were captivated by the beautiful view.
When we somehow ended up talking about the earth’s axis, suddenly I saw a light appeared in the middle of the sky and it moved so fast to the right. It had a tail behind. It was a falling star! I was so surprised and shouted while pointing at the yellow trace that disappeared in a blink of an eye. My mom saw the end of it and my sister came out running asking what happened.
Unfortunately I couldn’t see where it was going or how it disappeared. Because there was the roof of my house blocking my view :(
But I was so happy I couldn’t help but smile. Because it was the first time I saw a falling star. When I told my grandma, she said she used to see lots of falling stars when she was a kid, because she lived in a country and there were paddy fields in front of her house so the sky wasn’t blocked by any tall buildings.
After that we went inside. And when it was almost 9 pm I went out again. Too bad the sky was already covered with clouds so we couldn’t see the stars anymore.
Overall it was so nice to experience that haha.
I hope even though we don’t stand on the same ground, we still see the same sky :)
